Forensic evaluation of a building, house, retaining wall or other structure is in many ways similar to the mindset possessed by medical examiners in murder cases. Education and experience in combination with acute perception of what leads to failure and/or distress is necessary to fully investigate problems with a structure. Many times the answer for a failure cannot be fully determined until all facets of the facility failure mechanism have been thoroughly evaluated and compared with other sections of the structure to find the full causation.
